For the seocnd year in a row a Philadelphia Phillie has won the Home Run Derby. This time it was slugging 1st baseman Ryan Howard. For Phillie fans this could be a bad omen, last year Bobby Abreu won the Derby and went into a slump the second half of the season, hopefully this won’t happen to Howard. Howard has made quite a name for himself since coming to the Major Leagues. Last year he was Named NL Rookie of the Year, this years Home Run Derby champ, he has a very bright future ahead of him. it was funny to see fans in boats, canoes, and kayaks going after baseballs that landed in the Allegheney River. There is one really happy fan out there that won 500 free flights when Howard’s last home run hit the sign for the free flights. This Home run Derby was worth the price of admission, if the NL can’t win the All-Star game, at least they won the derby.
