Great news for Phillies fans! The Phillies and 2nd baseman Chase Utley agree to a 7 year 85 million dollar contract extension. If you look up the numbers he put up the last two years this deal is worth it by today’s standards. The timing of this couldn’t have been any better, with the Eagles losing to the Saints, and the Flyers and 76ers in the middle of rebuilding this is a piece of good news fro Philadelphia sports fans. This and the other moves Pat Gillick has made during the offseason should bring even more excitement to the Phillies going into the 2007 season. Now with Chase Utley taken care of, Pat Gillick can get to work on a new deal with Ryan Howard. One more thing, this isn’t a bad wedding present for Utley since he was just married on Saturday.
