Its official the Philadelphia Phillies lost their 10,000th game in franchise history. They lost the game the way you probably expect, getting their butts kicked by the St. Louis Cardinals 10-2, at leats it wasn’t a shut out. Albert Pujols hit 2 of the Cardinals 6 home runs, and it was on national t.v., it was ESPN’s Sunday Night Game, should it be any other way? A lot more went into this than being around for 124 years, there were some really stupid moves, a couple were mentioned in a previos post about this, and then there were some really cheap and stupid owners. A case in point, William Cox, who owned the Phillies in 1943, was banned for life from baseball for betting on the Phillies to win, that year the Phillies lost 90 games. There are a lot of stories out there that will keep you laughing at this team, and its history. The ironic thing about this loss, it was by the same team that over took the Phillies in 1964, in one of the biggest collapses in sports history 6 1/2 game lead with 12 to play, lost 10 in a row, and lost the NL Pennant to the St. Louis Cardinals. At least its over with, now the only thing is to wait for the trivia questions.
