A federal grand jury has indicted Barry Bonds on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice on Thursday. Whether you like Bonds or not, this does say something about the type of person Bonds really is. No he hasn’t been found guilty of anything, yet. The Federal Government doesn’t usually indict people unless they have a strong case, and they have a 95% conviction rate, but there must be enough evidence for a grand jury made up of average citizen’s to hand up an indictment. A lot of people are goiong to make excuse for him, like this is a witch hunt, and why not go after Mark McGwire, race has something to do with this. All of that is nonsense. This is about a man who given immunity in the governments case against Balco, with the stipulation that he tell the truth, took and oath and then according to the indictment lied. What does race, or a witch hunt, or Marc McGwire have to do with that. Because he is Barry Bonds is he supposed to get away with it? No this isn’t about any of that, this is just about a guy who lied to a grand jury, and no one no matter how rich or popular you are or how many home runs you hit should get away it.
