The Phillies spent most of the game up against the ropes aftyer taking a 1-0 lead off Mets Starter Johan Santana. Joe Blanton making his first start for the Phillies made a couple of mistake pitches to Carlos Delgado and Raul Castro that would give the Mets a 5-1 lead, and with the way Santana was pitching things weren’t looking too good. The biggesat hit of the game may have been Pat Burrel’s double in the eighth inning, good thing he was still in the game, because according to Mets manager Jerry Manuel, he wouldhave let Santana start the nineth if he could have gotten Burrell out, he didn’t and you can say the rest is history. The Phillies sent the 11 batters to the plate in the nineth with So Taguchi picking up his first pinch hit of the year, a two run double over the head of Mets RF Endy Chavez, and Jimmy Rollins delivering the knock-out blow, with a two run double to put the Phillies up 7-5. Rollins would score to make itr 8-5. Brad Lidge did give up a run in the nineth but still picked up his 22nd save. This was awesome, the looks on the Mets fan’s faces in the nineth, PRICELESS.
