The good news for Phillies fans after Thursday afternoons 3-0 loss to the Florida Marlins is there appears to be nothing wrong with Cole Hamels and the Phillies are still in first place.. After his last 2 starts there were rumors that there could be something wrong . Hamels pitched a strong game, the only problem was the Phillies offense took another day off.
The Phillies pulled off a trade with the Chicago Cubs. The Phillies sent RHP Brian Schlitter (4-3, 6 Saves, 58 K’s in 48 2/3 inns., and a 2.22 ERA in 34 games for Class A Clearwater) to the Cubs for LHP Scott Eyre who has spent some time on the DL with left elbow and groin problems. Eyre has a 7.17 ERS in 19 appearences for the Cubs. Eyre did have 9 scoreless innings in his first 19 appearances, but did give up 9 runs in 5 appearances that coverewd 2 1/3 innings which led the Cubs to designate him for assignment. Lets keep the fingers crossed and hope it works out.
