The Sports Den would like to take this time and send a special thank you to the N.Y. Mets bullpen. Thank you from a Phillies fan on your blowing a 5-1 lead against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night and allowing the Phillies to stay 1.5 games ahead in the NL East. It was a tough night for us Phillies fans watching the Atlanta Braves pound the Phillies 10-4, and it was tougher watching Carlos Delgado hit a grand slam that put the Mets up 5-1. At that point The Sports Den thought for sure the lead would be cut to a 1/2 game, with a chance the Mets could tie for the lead on Thursday night with the Phillies having the night off. When we went back to the Cubs-Mets game and saw the score tied at 5-5 there was still hope. The Cubs did take a 6-5 lead and the Mets did tie it again at six, but in the 10th inning the bullpen came through again by giving up 3 runs and making the final Cubs 9 – Mets 6, just what the Phillies and their fans needed, so thanks again.
