The Flyers let one slip through ttheir fingers on Thursday night losing to the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in OT. This one hurts because the Flyers held a 2-1 lead late in the third period. Thats when Flyers goalie Marty Biron suffered a severe brain cramp and decided to play a puck behind the net that left alone would have been an icicing. Instead Biron played it to the wrong side and that led to the tying goal by Flyer killer Patrick Elias with just :90 left in regulation, it looked at first that Biron made the save , but the puck somehow made it through his pads and into the net. In OT Elias struck again, backhanding a shot past Biron at the 2:46 mark to give the Devils a 3-2 win. Your not going to win every game, but you don’t want to lose too many like this. Flers G.M. Paul Holmgren held an impromtue mini press conference to update the media on imjuries to Simone Gagne and Kimmo Timonen. Holmgren said Gagne had cramped up due to dehydration, and Timonen suffered a shoulder injury that was considered not too serious. It sounded like one or both players could be back for Saturday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
