Its being reported from various sources that the 76ers have fired head coach Mo Cheeks. There has been no official word from the 76ers yet, but they have scheduled a press conference for 5:00 pm. This comes as a surprise since Cheeks guided the 76ers to the playoffs last season for the first time since the days of Larry Brown, and that Stefanski had give Cheeks 2 contract extensions in the past year. It was a slow start last season that cosat GM Billy King his job, and another slow start, 9-14 after Friday nights loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, has cost Cheeks his job. Reports say director of player personnel, Tony DiLeo will become interim coach for the rest of the season. Will this firing have the same effect as Bill King’s? Who knows, but if not you could probably expect to see some trades. Cheeks becomes the fifth NBA coach to be fired this season. He has compiled a 112-147 record since becoming head coach in 2005-06.
