Today was the trading deadline in the NHL, and the Flyers made a couple of deals, the best way to describe them, meaningless. In the first trade the Flyers sent F Scottie Upshaw and a secound round pick to the Phoenix Coyotes for F Dan Carcillo, who leads the league in penalty minutes..goodbye Riley Cote. The Flyers then sent a sixth round pipck to the San Jose Sharks for D Kyle McLaren. McLaren right now is not in the NHL. If anything this only gives the Flyers a little cap space, Upshall would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Upshall’s trade does make more room for Claude Giroux.
