The Villanova Wildcats advance to the Fianl Four with a 78-76 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers. This game will go done as one of the best if not the best game of the Tourny so far. What else could you ask for, two Big East teams that know each other very well going head to head for the chance at the Final Four at stake. This was a real cat fight with both teams scratching and clawing at each other for every loose ball and rebound. The Wildcats did go out to a 10 point lead in the first have only to see the Panthers fight their way back an take a 2 point lead at halftime.Neither team could pull away in the second half. The only thing that bothered me was the ill advised inbound pass that Villanova tried with 10 seconds left. All they had to do was inbound it draw a foul and ice the game at the foul line. Instead the long pass eventually allowed the Panthers to tie the score at 76 -76, and it seemed as this game was headed to OT. The in steps Scottie Reynolds, who took a pass from Dante Cunnigham and raced down the court to hit a short little jumper to give the Wildcats a 78-76 lead with a 1/2 second left. The Panthers did get one last chance for a miracle shot, but it was not to be, and now the Wildcats are off to Detroit to face the winner of North Carolina/Oklahoma.
