What a come back for the Phillies. Trailing the whole game the Phillies used a 7 run nineth inning to beat the Florida Marlins 7-3. The Marlins jumped out 3-0 in the bottom of the first on a 3-run homer by Dan Uggla off of Brett Myers. That was all the Marlins would get off Myers and the bullpen. The Phillies only had 3 hits going into the nineth inning then as they say all hell broke lose. After a double by Jayson Worth, and a wlak to Raul Ibanez, Matt Stairs singled to score Worth and cut it to 3-1. Lou Marson then walked to load the bases. Eric Bruntlett struck out for the second out and giving the Marlins hope they would get out of the jam. No. Jimmy Rollins walked to force in a run and make it 3-2. Shane Victorino stepped to the plate and sent a fastball over the right field wall for a grand slam, and a 6-3 Phillies lead. Chase Utley followed Victorino’s slam with a homer of his own to make it 7-3, and with that the Phillies took game one ofthe weekend series. The home run Myers gave up in the first was his eighth given up so far this year, and the Phillies have now given up a home run in their first 15 games which is now a new MLB record. The old record was held by the 2001 Milwaukee Brewers who gave a home run in their first 13 games. Let’s hope this ends tomorrow.
