Former Philadelphia Flyer Peter Zezel has passed away on Tuesday at the age of 44. Zezal apparently had undergone chemotherapy, and suffered a brain hemorrhage after recent spleen surgery and slipped into a coma, his family decided to take him off life support according to NHL.com. Peter Zezel had been suffering from a rare blood disorder called hemolytic anemis for the last 10 years. The Flyers chose Peter Zezel with the 41st pick in the 1983 entry draft. In his rookie year he had 15 goals and 61 points in helping the Flyers reaxh the Stanley Cup finals. In 1986-87 he scored a career high 33 goals and had 72 points to help the Flyer again reach the Stanley Cup Finals. HE sort of became a hearthrob in the Philly area with his appearance in the hockey movie “Youngblood”. Zezel played 15 years in the NHL, after playing with Flyers, Zezel also playe dwith the St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, and finished with the Vancouver Canucks in 1988-89. He scored 219 goals nad 389 assits in his career.
