The longest game in NCAA Baseball history was played Staurday night between Texas, and Boston College. The game started at 7:02 pm and ended after 25 innings at 2:05 am on Sunday. The previous record was set back in 1971 between Louisiana-Lafayette, and McNeese St, that game lasted 23 innnings with Louisiana-Lafayette winning 6-5. There could be a rematch, Boston College will now play Army on Sunday with the winner playing Texas. The question is will Boston College have enough left in the tank to win against Army?
Amazing Stat of the Game: With a game this long you would expect something out of the ordinary to happen, and it did. Texas reliever Austin Wood pitched 13 innnings, 12 1/3 of witch he didn’t give up a hit, he threw 169 pitches, 120 were strikes. If basbeall scouts didn’t know about this guy before, they know him now. Talk about a long reliever.
Boston College reliever Mike Belfiore pitched 9 2/3 innings.
NCAA Record Set and Tied : Two Texas’ players share a NCAA record for most at bats in a game with 12. Michael Torres first set it then his teamate Travis Tucker tied it wiht his 12th at bat.
