The Phillies are in New York to take on the Mets in a big 3 game series, weather permitting. The Phillies (33-22) lead the Mets (30-25) in the NL East by 3 games heading into Tuesday night’s game. Two lefties will be going at it, J.A. Happ (4-0, 2.48) will be on the mound for the Phillies while Johan Santana (7-3, 2.00) will get the start for the Mets. The Mets will be without SS Jose Reyes, 1B Carlos Delgado, and setup man J.J. Putz, all are on the DL and will be for sometime. The Phillies need to take advantage of this and at least get 2 out of 3 from the Mets. Its about time Johan Santana has a bad game against the Phillies.
Update:
According to MLB.com the Phillies have placed closer Brad Lidge on the 15 day DL, retroactive to the 7th of June, with a sprained knee. Ryan Madson will be the closer while Lidge is out.
