The Flyers fired coach John Stevens after being shut out two games in a row, and replaced him with Peter Laviolette. Yea, yea, you can’t fire the players just the coach, Here’s somehting to think about, in the Flyers two shut-out losses, they took a total of 72 shots on goal, 34 in a 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers, and 38 in a 3-0 loss the the Vacouver Canucks. My question is, is that the coaches fault that the players can’t put the puck in the net? The real problem is, Ed Snider, Bob Clarke, and Paul Holmgren won’t give the head coach the power to hold the players responsible. Is The Sports Den wrong about that? Look at how many coaches they have had in the last 5 years, Ken Hitchcock, John Stevens, and now Peter Laviolette. Then again thanks to the genius’s who run this team they have no cap space to make a real move that would actually help this team. So much for change.
