Ok the NCAA Tourny selections are over, The Sports Den is going to take a look at which to local teams has the easier road to the final four. If you look at the brackets its obvious who has the easier road and that would be Villanova.
Villanova goes into the tourny having lost 5 of their last 7 games, which is why The Sports Den was surprised when they were made a 2 seed. They caught a huge break in being put in the South region. The way their brackets are set, they could make a run to the Elite 8, won’t have to face teams with a strong inside game, where they where they could possibly face Duke, and by the looks of things could be Villanova’s toughest game. They match up well against Duke. so there really isn’t any reason why Villanova can’t reach the Final Four, unless of course they beat themselves.
Villanova vs Robert Morris – Thursday 12:30
Temple on the other hand has a rough road to follow. They are in the East Region and there are more tougher teams Temple would have to face than Villanova would. Their first game against Ivy League Champs Cornell, is a scary one for two reasons. Cornell’s head coach is a former assistant for Temple coach Fran Dunphy at Penn, so he is going to know how to play Temple, its a 5-12 matchup, and alot of time thats where the most upsets happen in the first round. If they should happen to get to the Sweet 16, they would most likely have to face 1 seed Kentucky. Maybe they could pull off the big upset if they get that far, have to wait and see.
