The Flyers won the season series over the Devils 5-1, including taking 2 out of 3 in New Jersey, the question was would it continue into the playoffs? It did in game 1, with the Flyers defeating the Devils 2-1. Brian Boucher played a strong game stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced. The Flyers got goals from Chris pronger, and Mike Richards, who took a pretty pass from Ian Laperriere who used a spin move to backhand a pass cross ice to Richards. The Flyers killed off a 4 minute penalty early in the third period which was huge. Its playoff hockey so you knew it had to get scary at the end, especially when Travis Zajac scored for the Devils with 2:43 left in regulation, but thats all the Devils would get. Here is an odd stat, Boucher was playing in just his fifth playoff game since 2000, while Martin Brodeur was playing in his 93rd since 2000. Can they kepp it going? Hopefully they come home up 2-0.
