First off The Sports Den would like to congratulate Roy Halladay on his perfect game against the Florida Marlins. Now with that said let’s take a look at some of the oddities about the 2 perfect games this season.
1. It is odd to have 2 perfect games thrown in the same season, let alone the same month, but May is a good month for perfect games. Seven out of the twenty perfect games have come in the month of May.
2. Philadelphia has a connection with both perfect games this year, not sure if its odd or just ironic, the Phillies have one the A’s have the other, the A’s are originally from Philadelphia.
3. If May is a good month for throwing a perfect game than August is a bad one since its the only month in baseball season that doesn’t have one. here’s a breakdown:
-
April – 1
-
May – 7
-
June – 3
-
July – 4
-
August – 0
-
September – 3
-
October – 2
4. Since 1981 there have been eleven perfect games. Only nine in the 100 years before that.
