Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr has just dodged a huge bullet. With the almost certain trade of Cliff Lee to the Yankees falling apart, there was a chance Lee could have been traded to a national League team which would have meant more heat on Amaro. There were rumors that the Reds, Dodgers and Mets were interested in Lee. Could you imagine what would be said about Amaro if Lee were traded to the Mets? Fortunately we won’t have to worry about that since Cliff Lee was traded from the Mariners to the Texas Rangers for 1st baseman Justin Smoak and prospects..
