According to Pa. Govenor Ed Rendell the Eagles and Vikings should have played on Sunday night. Easy for him to say. He made these comments on the local Fox news in Philly, after the fact that the storm didn’t turn out to be as bad as expected by forecasters. It would have been played had the game been at either 1 or 4 o’clock, but it was moved to 8:30, at a time when the storm was supposed to be at its worst. Considering the predictions it would have made it a huge mess getting to and from the game. Let’s keep in mind that the Govenor gets a chauffer and police escort.
Don’t get me wrong, it would have been great to see a football game in the snow, but considering the circumstances, the smart move was made, safety first right? Personally, being a season ticket holder, I would have been able to get to the game by using mass transit, but getting home would have been a nightmare, would not have been able to get home using the Broad St. line, need the regional rail line which stops running at 11:00 pm, before the game would have ended. See Govenor its not as weasy as you make it sound, if the forcast would have called for 6 inches of snow, I’m sure the game would have been played, again considering the forecast at the time the decision was made, it was the right move. Then again the Govenor also eaid the Eagles would regret trading Donovan McNabb. How did that work out Govenor?
