With just over fifty games left in in the major league season its time to take a look at the race for worse record in baseball and the prestigious Sports Den Toilet Bowl Award in baseball.  The way it looks right now the winner of this award the last to years, Pittsburgh Pirates, have taking themselves out of the race by playing way above their heads. They have fallen back to earth going from first place to seven games out in a little over a week, there is a very slight chance they could win it again, but its not likely.
Up until this past week it looked like the Houston Astros were going to run away with it with their 37-74 record. the closest teram to them were ten games behind them, but that has changed a little. With a recent surge the Baltimore Orioles have pulled to within six games of overtaking the Astros with the worse record in baseball. It looks like its going to be inavoidable for the Astros not to win the award, just like losing one hindred games is going to be unavoidable.
