There were rumors last season that the Phillies were going to try and get Jim Thome back for the playoff run, but that didn’t work out, the Twins traded Thome to the Indians. Instead Jim thome and the Phillies have agreed to a 1 year, $1.25 million contact pending the usual physical. Good move considering Ryan Howard will be out for a while after rupturing his achilles tendon. There are a few questions though since Thome has turned 41. How much will he be able to play is the big one, since he will probably be splitting time at first base with John Mayberry Jr. At least the fans will be happy to see Gentleman Jim back in a Phillies uniform.
