Pat Burrell To Retire A Phillie

According to the Phillies website, Pat Burrell is going to retire a Phillies after he signs a one day contract with the team over the weekend of May 18 -20, when the Boston Red Sox are in town, he will throw out the first pitch on May 19th. The Phillies #1 pick in 1998, Burrell would help the team win its second World Series in 2008, leading off the rain delayed conclusion of game 5 with a double that would eventually be the winning run. He will probably be best remembered riding the Budweiser Wagon during the Championship Parade. He did win a second World Series with the San Francisco Giants in 2010.
