Game 2 of the series is game 1 of a day – night doubleheader between the Rays and Phillies. It was a classic pitchers duel between David Price and Cole Hamels, with Hamels pitching a three hit shutout, and had a 1-0 lead through seven innings. Then Charlie Manuel decided to bring in Antonio Bastardo, a very questionable decision, in the eighth, and that’s where the Phillies lost this game. Bastardo walked the first two batters then gave up a three run homer to Carlos Pena. The Phillies had a chance in the bottom of the eighth but left the bases loaded after scoring a run to cut it to 3-2. There were a couple of more questionable moves by Charlie Manuel. The Phillies drop to 34-39, and are back in last place in the NL East for now, and are now an incredible 0-30 when trailing after eight innings. The Rays improve to 39-32. Cliff Lee looks for his first win in game 2.
