The Phillies were looking to bounce back on Thursday afternoon from Wednesday night’s loss to the Pirates, but it didn’t workout that way. Kyle Kendrick (2-8) was on the mound and immediately gave up 5 runs, and put the Phillies in another huge hole before they took their first at bat, Kendrick then held the Pirates scoreless for the next six innings. The Phillies did fight back back but their rally fell one run short as they lost to the Pirates 5-4, and split the four game series 2-2. A. J. Burnett started for the Pirates and won his eighth straight and is now 9-2. With the loss the Phillies find themselves back in last plae in the NL East at 36-42, while the Pirates improve to 40-35.
