Game 2 of the series between the Phillies and Dodgers saw the return of Roy Halladay to the Phillies starting rotation. It was Roy Halladay, making his first start in seven weeks, against Stephen Fife, making his very first start. It turned out to be a pretty good pitching duel with both pitcher’s pitching well enough to win, but walking away with a no-decision. It came down to the bullpens, with the Phillies bullpen keeping the Dodgers in check, while the Dodgers bullpen allowed the Phillies to do something they haven’t been able to do in the previous 38 times they trailed after seven innings, win. Hunter pence came up huge in the top of the eighth with a two run single that gave the Phillies a 3-2 lead, and would be the eventual final score, Kyle Kendrick picked up the win, and Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 21st save. The Phillies win streak is up to 4 games, they improve to 41-51, while the Dodogers drop to 48-44. Here’s hoping that Cliff Lee can pick up his second win of the season, and the Phillies winning streak climbs to five games.
Star of the Game:
Hunter Pence, Phillies – 2/3, 2 RBI’s (GW)
