Take two. That’s what the Phillies have done so far down in Washington after beating the Nationals for the second straight night on Wednesday 3-2. The Phillies recovered from a sloppy first inning that allowed the Nationals to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Vance Worely along with thew bullpen kept the Nationals off the board the rest of the way and a pair of home runs by Jimmy Rollins and one by new comer Nate Schierholtz powered the Phillies. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 23 save. The Phillies improve to 47-57 to pull within 10 games of .500, and now are just one game behind the Marlins for fourth in the NL East, while the Nationals drop to 61-42. The Phillies will look for the sweep when Cole Hamels takes the mound on Thursday night.
