| Bartolo Colon |
Oakland A’s pitcher Bartolo Colon has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for testosterone, a violation of MLB’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Colon is 10-9, with a 3.43 ERA in 24 starts, but is 4-1, with a 1.57 ERA in his last five, hmmm. The suspension takes effect immediately, and since there are only 40 games left on the A’s schedule the remaining ten games will include the playoffs, if they get that far, and the start of next season. Instead of pulling a Melky Cabrera and coming up with a fake website, Colon released this statement:
“I apologize to the fans, to my teammates and to the Oakland A’s,” Colon said in a statement issued by the MLB Players Association. “I accept responsibility for my actions and I will serve my suspension as required by the Joint Drug Program.”
Somehow you get the feeling we are going to see a lot more players testing positive for testosterone.
