The Phillies beat the Mets 3-2 on Thursday afternoon to avoid being swept, and stay one game ahead of the Nets for third in the NL East. Kyle Kendrick gave up solo homers in the first, and then again in the second innings, but settled down kept the Mets off the board after that. Kendrick’s numbers; 7.2 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 6 K’s, were good enough for him to pick up his eighth win. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 30th save. The Phillies improve to 62-69, while the Mets fall to 61-70.
