The Phillies dropped a tough one to the Reds 2-1 on Tuesday night. Kyle Kendrick came into the game on a career high four game winning streak that came to an end with the loss. It wasn’t without a little controversy though, a blown call by the umpires turned what should have been a first and third with two out, into a inning ending double play, after the Phillies took the lead 1-0 on a bases loaded walk. Kyle Kendrick gave up a two run homer to Jay Bruce that turned out to end the scoring. Congrats to Jimmy Rollins on picking up his 2000th hit, with a double in the fifth, and joining Mike Schmidt, Ritchie Ashburn, and Ed Delahanty in the Phillies 2,000 hit club. The loss drops the Phillies to six game below .500 at 65-71, and nine game back in the Wild Card race. The Reds improve to 83-54.
Star of the Game:
Jay Bruce, Reds: 2/3, HR, 2 RBI.
