Should hockey fans boycott the NHL? Yes, Will They? Probably not. Just like every other sport we like to complain about how the sports leagues don’t care about the fans any more when they have these lockouts, but once they are over we go running back like nothing happened. This is the third lockout in the NHL under Gary Bettman, and it should be the last one. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the owners are in any hurry to remove Bettman, and this is the biggest reason to boycott the NHL, to get him out as commissioner. How long do you think he would last if after the lockout ends teams were playing in empty arenas? Not long at all. You also know that this won’t be the last lockout, just have to settle on how many years they want to play before the next one happens. Then again The Sports Den could be wrong and the owners could actually love this guy because he managed to get a televison contract with NBC Sports, which is owned by Comcast, who just happens to be part owners of the Philadelphia Flyers. Unfortunately a boycott won’t happen, just lockouts after the CBA expires.
