The Phillies take game 1 from the Reds by the score of 5-3, and snap the Reds’ six game winning streak. It was a close game with the Phillies jumping out to a 3-0 lead only to have the Reds tie it at 3-3 in the top of the eighth, with the Phillies retaking the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Cliff Lee pitched well enough to win but came away with a no decision. Justin De Fratus picked up his second win, and Jonathan Papelbon picked up his eighth save,
