The Phillies dropped to 1-5 halfway through their ten game road trip with a tough 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins making their recent five game winning streak meaningless. It’s the usual story , Cole Hamels pitched well enough to win again, but the Phillies hitters made another mediocre pitcher look like Cy Young. What makes this losing streak more difficult is the fact that the Braves and Nationals are also losing and the Phillies are wasting chances to pick up some ground. Unfortunately the Phillies find themselves three games below .500 again at 31-34, yeah sounds like a broken record. Will the Phillies offense show up and help Tyler Cloyd get the Phillies on another winning streak, and maybe get above .500 when the trip ends. Let’s hope so.
Player of the Game:
Justin Morneau, Twins – 3/4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI’s
