Mother nature forced the Phillies and White Sox to play a lot of baseball on Saturday afternoon, and night, two games eighteen innings. The Phillies and White Sox decided that eighteen wasn’t enough, so they played twenty four, taking both games into extra innings. The Phillies had plenty of chances in game 1 but fell to the White Sox 5-4 in 11 innings. The Phillies earned a split by taking game 2 by the score of 2-1 in 13 innings, and pulled to within one game of .500 at 47-48, and within a half game of the Nationals for second in the NL: East. Cole Hamels will be looking to get the Phillies to .500 at the break, and pick up his third straight win on Sunday afternoon.
