It’s time for The Sports Den to make a list of the 5 NFL head coaches who we think could be on the hot seat.
1. Rex Ryan , Jets – Things have not been going well for Ryan the last couple of years, missing the playoffs, and QB controversies.Yeah, they are 1-0 only because of a stupid penalty to the Buccaneers. There is the Mark Sanchez situation. Remember he put Sanchez in the meaningless third preseason game, and Sanchez got hurt and most likely out for the season. The Sports Den thinks the only way he saves his job is by winning the Super Bowl, and that is not going to happen.
2. Jason Garrett, Cowboys – The Giants turned the ball over six times and the Cowboys only beat them by five, they did not look impressive. The Cowboys have missed the playoffs the last four seasons. Garrett was given the dreaded vote of confidence by Jerry Jones. Jones took the play calling responsibilities away from Garrett and gave them to Bill Callahan a former head coach.you don’t have to be a genius to see the writing is on the wall with that move
3 Jim Schwartz, Lions – Schwartz is in his fourth season as Lions head coach. He took the Lions to the playoffs after the 2011 season, but they finished 2012 with a 4-12 record. Anything less than a 8-8 season and Schwartz could be looking for a new job.
4. Ron Rivera, Panthers – There was talk of Rivera being fired last season after a 3-9 start, but a four game winning streak to end the season saved his job. Another slow start, or another losing season for the Panthers could see Rivera being the first coach fired in 2013.
5. Dennis Allen, Raiders – Allen is in his second season as head coach of the Raiders. They finished the 2012 season with a 4-12 record. If Al Davis were still alive he would’ve been fired already. This team isn’t very good and it’s going to be another long season for Raider fans, and if there isn’t a lot of improvement they could be calling for his head.
There’s our list so let’s see if we get any right.
