The Phillies dropped game two of the series to the Mariners by the score of 5-2. The Mariners jumped on A.J. Burnett ( 7.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 9 K) early scoring two runs in the first, then added a run in the sixth, and two in the eighth. The Phillies couldn’t do a thing against Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma managing just 4 hits in eight innings and striking out 11 times. The Phillies did manage a little rally in the bottom of the ninth avoiding a shut out by scoring two runs before Fernando Rodney came in and picked up his 36th save. The Phillies drop to 55-71, and the Mariners improve to 68-57.
