It’s that time of the year again, time for The Sports Den to try it’s luck at predicting, or guessing how the standings of each division in the NFL will end up at the end of the 2014 season. Since The Sports Den’s favorite NFL team the Eagles, resides in the NFC East that’s where we are going to start.
NFC East: 2014 Final Standings
1. Philadelphia Eagles *- After Mike Vick got hurt Nick Foles took over as QB and led the Eagles to the division title with a 10-6 record. The Eagles lost DeSean Jackson but signed Darren Sprouls, and Jeremy Maclin is healthy so the offense should be able to pick up where it left off if they stay healthy. The defense was getting better as the season went on but fans will have to wait and see what effects the way the NFL is enforcing the rule will have. This is the best team in the division on paper and on the field, so winning or losing the division is up to them. Prediction: 10-6
2. N.Y. Giants – Finished up the 2013 season in third place with a 7-9 record. RB David Wilson was forced to retire so Rashad Jennings will carry the load with some help from Peyton Hillis. How well the Giants do will depend on the offensive line. The Giants added Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on defense. Might do just a little better than last season: Prediction: 9-7
3. Washington Redskins – The Redskins finished last in the division with a 3-13 record there was a coaching exchange. Mike Shanahan is out and Jay Gruden is in. The Redskins did add DeSean Jackson but will that be enough for the Redskins to make a major turn around probably not since they will be getting used to a new offense. Might win a few more games. Prediction: 7-9
4. Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys finished last season in second place with an 8-8 record. Considering they didn’t improve their defense, DeMarcus Ware is gone, and Sean Lee is done for the season an 8-8 record could take a lot of wishful thinking. The pressure again will fall on Tony Romo and the offense which means another year out of the playoffs. Prediction: 6-10
