The Phillies extend their current winning streak to three games with an 11-6 win over the Yankees on Tuesday night. The start of the game was delayed 1:26 by rain. The Yankees held a 3-1 lead after Garrett Jones homered in the second and Brett Gardner homered in the third. Again the Phillies offense responded by putting up 5 runs in the fourth thanks to Cameron Rupp’s first career home run, a 2 run shot, and Maikel Franco’s third homer run in two games, another three run shot to give the Phillies a 6-3. The Yankees came back and tied it 6-6 in the fifth thanks to back to back home runs by Chase Headley, and Alex Rodriguez, and a RBI double by Chris Young. It stayed thay way until the ninth when Maikel Franco struck again. Franco gave the Phillies an 8-6 lead with a two run double, then Andres Blanco sealed the deal with the bases loaded triple. The win gives the Phillies their first road series win since Sept. 5-7, 2014 against the Nationals. It’s also the first series win for the Phillies against an AL East team since the Blue Jays in July 2011. The Phillies are now 26-47, and the Yankees drop to 38-33.
