The Phillies came from behind to take game 2 from the Mets by the score of 7-5. The Mets knocked Phillies starter Alec Asher out of the game after just 2/3 of an inning after scoring 5 runs on a 3 run homer by Daniel Murphy, and a 2 run homer by Michael Conforto. Then the Phillies bullpen took over and were able to keep the Mets off the scoreboard the res of the game. Darin Ruf started the Phillies comeback with a two run double in the third that made it 5-2 Mets. Cody Asche’s RBI single in the fifth cut it to 5-3. Things got a little testy in the sixth. First Yoenis Cespedes left the game after being hit in the hand with a pitch. Then Mets relieve Hansel Robles was ejected for throwing at Cameron Rupp’s head, benches cleared, but nothing happened. After Cameron Rupp and Chase d’Arnaud drew walks, and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch Freddy Galvis tied the game 5-5 with a RBI single. Freddy Galvis would eventually score the go ahead run on a wild pitch to make it 6-5 Phillies. The Phillies added an insurance in the eighth when Andres Blanco scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-5. Ken Giles pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up hie 15th save. The Phillies win their third straight and are now 61-97. The Mets drop their second straight and drop to 89-69.
