In a not completely unexpected turn of events the 76ers announced that the #1 pick in the 2016 draft Ben Simmons will not be playing this season after all. Apparently a recent scan of his injured foot that was reported back in January, by various sources, to be completely healed is not, and just like that the hope of seeing Simmons and Embiid on the court together is done for this season. According to 76ers beat writer Tom Moore this is the fifth straight season that a 76ers big man has missed an entire season, first it was Andrew Bynum, followed by Nerlans Noel, then Joel Embiid twice and now Simmons. Hopefully there won’t be a sixth.
