Opening in 1910, Bournemouth’s Dean Court has been a fixture of the football league for over 100 years. The historical image shows Bournemouth playing Manchester United in the sixth round of the FA Cup in 1957, a match which saw their largest ever attendan ce of
28,799. You can see from the historical image just how tightly packed the fans are in the old er version of the stadium and how close they are to the pitch, which must have created an intense, possibly claustrophobic, atmosphere. Currently, Bournemout h ha s Callum Wilson and Joshua King leading the line, who can be seen attempting to score against West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster in 2016 . An interesting change that we can see in the image is that the popularity of tattoo’s on Premier League footballers, compared to their Division One predecessors. This is the only stadium on this list that no longer goes by its original name of Dean Court . Perhaps these stadiums have kept their names due to the historical significance of these venues, a rarity in today’s modern game.
