The Phillies were looking to complete the sweep of the Cardinals in the series finale on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals hit four home runs to beat the Phillies 5-3 and avoid being swept. Three of the home runs were hit off Jerad Eickhoff who gave up four runs and eight hits in 6.1 innings. The Phillies had plenty of chances offensively but couldn’t get the big hit when they needed it. Phillies (33-23): RBI – Harper (41), Hoskins (42), Hernandez (28).
