And now for something completely different. Thanks to the pandemic MLB tweaked it’s rules just a little bit. After Tuesday’s game was postponed due to the tropical storm the Yankees and Phillies were scheduled for a double header on Wednesday. It wouldn’t be you normal double header, this double header would consist of two seven inning games, and the Yankees being the home team in game 1. The Phillies took game 1 by the score of 11-7. The Yankees jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a double play ground out in the first, and a Brettt Gardner (3) two run homer in the second. The Phillies score four in the third to take a 4-3 lead on a Bryce Harper (2) two run homer, a Phil Gosselin bases loaded walk, and a Roman Quinn fielder’s choice. J.T. Realmuto (2) made it 5-3 with a solo home run in the fifth. The Phillies went up 11-3 with a six run sixth inning. The Yankees mad eit interesting in the top of the seventh scoring four runs on a Thairo Estrada RBI single, and an Aaron Judge (7) three run homer. Hector Neris eventually got the final out to pick up the save. Zack Wheeler (6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) picked up the win.
