Hurray Baseball Is Back! With that being said the Phillies opened their season with a 10th inning walk off win over the Braves.Even thought The Small Sports Blog’s favorite baseball team won, still think starting extra innings with a runner on second should be done away with.
The Phillies took a 1-0 lead in the first on Alex John’s sacrifice fly. The best catcher in baseball, J.T. Realmuto made it 2-0 Phillies in the third with a RBI single. The Braves tied it 2-2 in the seventh on a Pablo Sandovol (1) two run homer off Aaron Nola (6.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 1 HR). Here is something you couldn’t say too often last season, the Phillies bullpen did it’s job. Bradley, Alvarado, Neris, and Brogdon (W, 1-0) held the Braves to 1 hit, and 0 runs in 3.1 innings. The Braves had a chance to take the lead in the top of the 10th, but Roman Quinn threw out Ozzie Albies at home. With two out in the bottom of the 10th Jean Segura singled home Bryce Harper with the winning run.
