
The Phillies won their third straight game hanging on to beat the Nationals 5-4 on Tuesday night. Jean Segura (7) led the game off with a solo home run to give the Phillies a quick 1-0 lead. The Phillies increased the lead to 4-0 in the seventh on J.T. Realmuto’s (12) solo home run and Ronald Torreyes (5) two run homer. The nationals cut it to4-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. Bryce Harper (17) made it 5-2 in the top of the eighth with a solo home run. Josh Bell’s (18) two run homer in the eight cut it to 5-4, but Jose Alvarado closed the door in the ninth to pick up the save. The Phillies move to within a game and a half of the Mets for first in the NL East.
