Like it or not Barry bonds is the new home run king in baseball, he hit #756* Tuesday night against the Washington Nationals and the pitcher Mike Bacsik, now an answer to a trivia question. We might never know wether or not Bonds was juiced,but there is a way to make sure his name is erased from the record books to put an end to the argument. this might sound a little crazy but it would work, all it would take is a little help from Ken Griffey Jr., and Alex Rodriguez. Ken Griffey Jr. is closest to Bonds with 589 home runs, but he is 37-38 years old and if it wasn’t for injuries over the last few years we might not be talking about Bonds right now. The Sports Den is going to go with everyone elses hope that Alex Rodriguez will break Bonds’ home run record. Here’s the idea, again The Sports Den admits this is a little off the wall. Alex Rodriguez recently hit his 500th career homer and is only 32 so there is time for him to catch and pass Bonds, its going to be hard for Bonds to play after this season given his age, and controversy surrounding him, so after this season some team will be taking a real gamble signing him. Somehow I would try and figure a way to get the Yankees to trade A-Rod to the Philadelphia Phillies, yes thats right the Phillies, talk about a little collusion here, just think with the way Citizen’s Bank Park is set up, and the way the ball flies out of there, A-Rod would be able to hit at least 50-60 home runs a year for the next five years and pass Bonds, and guess what there wouldn’t be any controversy. Here’s another selling point, if the Yankees don’t win the World Series this year he would still have a great shot at getting there. Home run king and World Series Champ hmm. Just an off the wall idea.
