For the last week or so all we’ve been hearing is wether or not Joe Torre would be back as manager of the Yankees or not. On Thursday Torre decided not to take the offer the Yankees made to him and ended his tenure as manager. Now you may be asking what has that have to do with the picture of this guy since its obvious its not Joe Torre. This is Trey Hillman, the new manager of the Kansas City Royals, now again you are probably asking what this has to do with the Torre soap opera? This is the funny twist, Trey Hilman has never played, coached, or managed in the Major Leagues. His most recent job has been the manager of the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan. He is managing them in the Japan Series for the second consecutive year. He spent 13 seasons as a manger in the Yankees minor league system, where he was named manager of the year 3 times. Now you can probably guess that Hillman left the Yankees organization for the simple reason that he thought his best chance of getting into the majors as a manger was somewhere else because of Joe Torre being manger and thinking Torre would be there a few more years.Its funny how things work out. The Yankees need a manager and here’s one that was right underneath their nose and I now in the AL with the Royals. If you don’t know who he is now, give it time by next baseball season everyone will know this guy, as the man who could’ve replaced Torre, and it was a mistake fo rthe Yankees to let him leave the organization, especially if he can improve the Royals nest season. it looks like the Torre soap opera will continue fo ra while.
