The Flyers hung on to beat the Capitals 6-4 and sweep the home and home, and win their third straight game. It looked like the Flyers would coast to an easy win after jumping out to a 4-0 lead, but the Capitals changed goalies, and were able to fight back and cut it to 5-4 before Steve Downie’s empty net goal iced it. The Flyers improve to 33-24-6, and the Capitals fall to 5th in the division at 29-24-10 with their two straight losses.
