The Flyers took the first game of a home and home “Battle of Pa.” with the Penguins 4-0 in a Saturday matinee. Matt Read (18) scored two goals, and Scott Hartnell (16), and Vincent Lecavalier (15) each had a goal, and Steve Mason stopped all 25 shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the season. It’s the first shutout by a Flyers goalie against the Penguins since Marty Biron in 2008. The win ends the Flyers two game losing streak, and ends the Penguins three game winning streak. The Flyers improve to 34-25-7, and the Penguins drop to 44-18-9. The Flyers and Penguiins will fly across the state and do it again tomorrow in a Sunday matinee, and hopefully with the same result, a Flyers win.
